Avery Citizens Against Domestic Abuse is a non-profit organization of concerned citizens committed to breaking the cycle of violence, sexual assault, and abuse through education, advocacy, and housing.

24 hour Crisis Line for victims of
domestic abuse and sexual assault

Emergency Shelter

Education and Information

Referral to Area Agencies

Presentation to school, civic,
church, and professional groups.

Support Groups for adults
and children






Has anyone done the following to you:

Slapped, pushed, shoved or hit you

Hit walls when they are angry

Controlled the money, car, decisions

Ignored you or called you names

Stalked you

Used a gun or a knife against you

Raped or forced you to have sex

Prevented you from working

Prevented you from having contact with family or friends

If one or more of these things have happened to you, you may be a victim
of domestic abuse or sexual assault. If you, or someone you know, are suffering from domestic abuse or sexual assault, please call 733-3512. Trained staff and volunteers at ACADA will assist you in assessing your needs.

Confidentiality will be protected!

necessary forms.

Be PREPARED!

Plan an emergency safety plan

Keep money hidden to get
away quickly

Make extra keys to the car and house. Leave them in a safe, secret place.

Keep extra clothing for you and the
children at a relative's or friend's house.

Keep a list of emergency phone
numbers in a safe place.

Keep important papers such as birth certificates, property deeds, marriage license, social security numbers, and car registration in a safety deposit box.

Keep a list of important numbers, such as family and friends, who can be of help.

Domestic Abuse is the second most committed crime in the United State

Domestic Abuse is the #1 cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44.

More than 2.6 million women will visit emergency rooms as a result of injuries from domestic abuse.

50% of the time there is both child abuse and domestic violence in the same home.

Have the following items hidden in a place where your partner cannot find them:

$50 or more in cash
Small bag with extra clothes for you and your children
Any important papers including:
Bank account numbers
Check book
Your social security number
His social security number
His date of birth, work place and telephone number
Insurance policies
Marriage License
Birth certificates for you and your child (children)
List of important phone numbers (family and friends)
Sentimental valuables and photos
Any special medications for children
Extra keys for house and car
